Therapy Sessions in Manchester
At Doorways Counselling, I offer short term Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) with the philosophical basis of Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) in which to explore a specific area of your life.
My approach to therapy is integrative, which simply means that I draw upon these and other models of therapy when working with clients. This allows us to work together in a way that suits you and your needs, rather than attempting to fit you into a predefined box.
Therapy usually involves us meeting together in a confidential space once a week, for eight sessions. There may be an opportunity to extend this to twelve sessions, if this would be helpful for you. Sessions are usually at the same time each week.
Therapy sessions take place at my private practice and I aim to provide a safe and accepting environment in which to work together.
I also offer webcam sessions for English speaking clients worldwide.
When you come for an initial appointment, you have a chance to experience what it would be like to work with me and we can decide together if our work could be helpful to you.
It is an opportunity to get a feel for how therapy works, to ask any questions you may have and to find out if we are comfortable working together.
If you decide you want to continue after the initial session, we will make an agreement about commitment to the length of therapy and cost.
The first session takes 1 hour and costs £60 and the second and subsequent sessions are 50 minutes and cost between £20 and £60.
Students, young people and children fee is £40, unless a lower fee is requested based on lower household income.
I offer a means-tested tiered fee structure for clients with lower incomes, so that people continue to have access to psychological services.

Workshops and Classes
At Doorways Counselling, I’m currently running CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) classes for those interested in finding out generally about psychological wellbeing. These run for six weeks and take place in my practice room. This is an educational rather than a therapeutic setting and you will not be asked to provide personal examples, although you are welcome to provide these, if you wish.
We will be exploring eight negative emotions in their unhealthy and healthy forms, and I offer pointers for managing these effectively.
The classes run weekday evenings and start at 7pm, running for an hour. The fee for the hour is £10. There is limited space available, and so I will keep a waiting list for the next available space for you.
