Buteyko Breathing Method

I am also an advanced practitioner of the Buteyko Breathing Method and offer breathing technique training at my practice in Central Manchester.

Buteyko is a form of breathing technique that uses particular breathing exercises primarily as a treatment for asthma and other respiratory conditions, but also for stress and life management.

The therapy takes its name from Ukrainian doctor Konstantin Pavlovich Buteyko, who first formulated its principles during the 1950s. Buteyko is based on the assumption that how we feel, as well as numerous medical conditions, including asthma, are caused or exacerbated by chronically increased respiratory rate, or hyperventilation. The method retrains breathing patterns through repetitive breathing exercises. Treatments include a series of reduced-breathing exercises that focus on nasal-breathing, breath-holding and relaxation.

If you would like to discuss how breathing training might help you, or to make an appointment, please get in touch.
